Recorded on April 27, 1970 at National Recording Studios, New York City, except the 'Portraits'. They were recorded on May 13, 1970. This session took place without Johnny Hodges on alto saxophone; he died on May 11, two days before the session.

Mid to late 70s reissue with Rockefeller address and Warner Communications rim text on labels.
